Job Description

What you'll do:

  • Report to the Head of Media and Communications and lead the team covering international communications, social intelligence, social media and AI-enabled communications.
  • Develop team capability through clear priorities, coaching, effective delegation, quality standards and accountability.
  • Strengthen HKPC’s international communications by translating corporate priorities and complex technology and industry subjects into clear narratives, media strategies and stakeholder engagement plans.
  • Partner with colleagues leading Hong Kong and Mainland communications, adding complementary international, social intelligence and AI capabilities.
  • Advise senior management and Divisions on international media, reputation, emerging issues, stakeholder engagement and communications risk.
  • Build trusted relationships with government, media, industry, research, business and international stakeholders, helping align different perspectives and advance shared objectives.
  • Establish social listening and issues-monitoring capabilities to identify emerging risks, stakeholder sentiment and communications opportunities, and turn insights into action.
  • Lead the responsible use of AI in communications planning, research, content workflows and evaluation, supported by human judgement, fact-checking and appropriate governance.
  • Improve communications effectiveness through audience insights, performance measurement and continuous experimentation.
  • Translate strategic direction and new ideas into practical plans, coordinated delivery and measurable outcomes.

 

You'll be a good fit if you have/are:

  • A recognised degree in communications, journalism, public affairs, business, international relations, technology, data analytics, AI, engineering or a related discipline.
  • 12 years or more of professional experience, including progressively broader responsibilities and solid supervisory or team-lead experience.
  • A strong record of developing people, bringing together different expertise and turning strategic direction into practical results.
  • Structured thinking, analytical ability and sound judgement, with the ability to connect information, assess implications and make balanced recommendations.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the maturity to build trusted relationships, navigate differing perspectives and provide thoughtful advice with professionalism and tact.
  • Relevant experience in international or cross-market communications, stakeholder engagement or reputation-sensitive work, preferably involving technology, innovation, industry, research, public affairs, consulting or digital transformation.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese, including Cantonese and Putonghua, with the ability to make complex subjects clear and relevant to different audiences.
  • Strong news judgement and risk awareness, with the ability to assess communications opportunities and recommend when to proceed, adapt, escalate or exercise restraint.
  • A collaborative, can-do and growth mindset, with openness to feedback, new ideas and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of AI, data analytics, social intelligence, digital transformation or technology-enabled communications. Candidates from AI or technology backgrounds with strong analytical, communication and people skills are welcome.
  • Experience in international organisations, technology companies, research institutions, public-sector or quasi-government organisations, professional services, consultancies, industry bodies, investment or trade promotion, or innovation ecosystems will be an advantage.
  • Relevant international or regional media and stakeholder networks, or a demonstrated ability to build effective professional relationships, will be an advantage.
  • Candidates with more experience will be considered for the position of Senior Manager.
