Legal Counsel

Job Duties:

  • Provide professional legal advice and support to HKPC and its subsidiaries in areas of laws and regulatory issues in Hong Kong, Mainland and Asean countries to protect the best interests of the Council
  • Advise on legal issues related to new technology development and commercialization, IT and data security, IP, etc. and provide legally-sound solutions
  • Work closely with business/ corporate units in negotiating the terms and conditions of contracts and agreements with clients, partners and vendors
  • Advise and assist business/ corporate units in handling dispute/ labour cases
  • Study new initiatives of business development from legal aspect, and give practical and well-reasoned legal advice
  • Identify and analyze legal risks, perform risk management and provide solutions
  • Partner with internal audit in enforcing corporate governance and compliance
  • Develop, prepare and review relevant legal documents including but not limited to various forms of contracts, services agreements, and tender documents to meet business and operational needs
  • Liaise with external lawyers to ensure quality of legal services provided to HKPC
  • Keep abreast of the latest regulatory and statutory requirements and advise on due diligence
  • Coordinate and assist in representation of HKPC in legal disputes


Job Requirements:

  • Degree of Bachelor of Laws (LLB) / Master of Laws (LLM)
  • Hong Kong qualified lawyer with 10 years or more post qualified experience gained from reputable law firms or in-house environment with proven track records
  • Previous experience in a similar role in high tech or multi-national corporations or public organisations
  • Knowledge of the Mainland laws and those of Asean countries preferred
  • Able to handle legal matters independently and deal with multiple parties/ stakeholders tactfully
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills, strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Reliable with high integrity and strong commitment
  • Good command of English, Cantonese and Putonghua

HKPC will take into consideration both the quantitative and qualitative requirements of the position when selecting the suitable candidates.  A competitive salary package commensurate with academic qualifications and experience will be offered.
