Job Summary: 
We are seeking a high calibre for Unit Head to lead our Emerging Smart Applications Unit.  The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team to develop new smart applications using AI, robotics, and other relevant emerging technologies mainly for smart city, but may also for other application areas such as smart manufacturing.  The Unit Head will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building a team, coaching junior team members, and engaging a wide variety of external stakeholders.
 
What you'll do:   

  • Define and implement a strategic plan for the Emerging Smart Applications Unit that aligns with the overall goals of the organisation.
  • Achieve the income target and manage the budget for the Unit and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Identify new business opportunities and develop relationships with potential partners and clients. 
  • Collaborate with other units or divisions within the organisation to develop integrated solutions for clients. 
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and develop technology development plan for the Unit.
  • Build and manage a team of professionals with expertise in AI, robotics, and other relevant technologies. 
  • Coach and mentor junior team members to help them develop their skills and advance in their careers. 
  • Engage with external stakeholders such as government officials, industry associations, academic institutions, etc to promote the work of the Unit and identify new opportunities for collaboration. 
  • Support and execute any other ad-hoc responsibilities as required by the organisation.

 
You'll be a good fit if you have/are:

  • Master degree in a relevant technology field such as Computer Science, AI, Robotics.  Candidates with a Doctorate degree will be HIGHLY ADVANTAGEOUS.
  • At least 12 years of work experience, with at least 6 years of experience directly related to AI, robotics, or other relevant technology areas.
  • Expertise in AI, robotics or other relevant technology areas, with actual experience of applying these technologies in actual applications in smart city or smart manufacturing, or other application areas.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify business opportunities related to AI or robotics technologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience in project management, with a proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • A passion for innovation and a commitment to staying up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in AI, robotics, or other relevant technologies.
