Who are we: 

The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and the RWTH Aachen Campus from Germany join forces to establish the Hong Kong Industrial Artificial Intelligence & Robotics Centre (FLAIR). Located at the Hong Kong Science Park, FLAIR is part of AIR@InnoHK, which is one of the two world-class research clusters being established by InnoHK Clusters of the HKSAR Government, to support Hong Kong in developing into an international innovation & technology hub.

 

As the sole founder, HKPC will work together with RWTH Aachen Campus, the major collaborator of FLAIR, by bundling their strengths and repertoire of resources in technical expertise, networks, innovation and patents etc. to set up the FLAIR and support its operation.

What you’ll do:

  • Implement the front-end user interface using your expertise in relevant JavaScript frameworks and libraries.
  • Work on the back-end development using technologies like Node.js, Go, or Python, ensuring seamless integration between the front-end and back-end components.
  • Assist in the design and development of user interfaces and front-end components using HTML, CSS, React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with client-side rendering, APIs, and data manipulation, as well as understanding of web accessibility standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and users to gather requirements, insights, and needs for the application.
  • Apply object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts and strong algorithmic skills to develop robust and efficient software solutions.
  • Assist with web application deployment and scaling strategies, including familiarity with containerization and cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Work with other disciplines like Data Scientists and integrate algorithms and models into the software solutions.

 

You’ll be a good fit if you have/are:

  • University degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
  • Creative, open-minded, and proactive personality with a keen interest in software research and development.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in the software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Proficient in programming languages like JavaScript, Python, Go, or Node.js.
  • Strong front-end skills with experience in JavaScript frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Understanding of database design and management (e.g., SQL, NoSQL databases).
  • Knowledge of server-side APIs, web services, and RESTful architecture.
  • Experience with web application frameworks (e.g., Express.js, Django).
  • Familiarity with software design patterns and architectural patterns, as well as software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
  • Experienced with version control systems (e.g., Git) and testing frameworks and techniques (e.g., unit tests, integration tests, end-to-end tests).
  • Understanding basic concept of computer vision and deep learning technologies will be a plus.

Flair will take into consideration both the quantitative and qualitative requirements of the position when selecting the suitable candidates. A competitive salary package commensurate with academic qualifications and experience will be offered.
